Hi Can anyone please tell me if there is some sort of feeder where I can have permanent food available for my chickens but not feed the whole uk population of wild ducks at the same time! I have 8 chickens and as soon as I appear about 15 duck come over from a neighbours pond. Thanks

Hi
It's a problem. How do you give them their food? I have mine in a feeder which they help themselves to, duck beaks cannot penetrate it. When I give them their corn I give it to them in their coup and lock them in till they have eaten it.
I never throw food in the garden because of rats
Kindest regards
Simon

Hi Thanks for your reply. What type of feeder do you have? I bought one yesterday with fins but the ducks can still get to the food. Ann

I have a normal hen feeder with the fins and set the fins higher so if that works. I know mine wouldn't use it.
Failing that I dont know what else you could use that would allow hens and not ducks. When i have the fins higher and the food low the hens can get to it but not the duck, although I do have very young hens which may be why.

Simon
