I ask on this forum how I could get my ex bats to roost on the perch at night. It was suggested that I put them on each evening and they may get the hang of it. I have been doing this for weeks and weeks - they just lay on the floor waiting for me to perch them . As much as i love them this is becoming a chore - ant suggestions? Many thanks Nicki

Hmmmm Im not really sure to be honest, maybe it doesnt come to them that easily, they dont have that instinct in other words, just be patient with them give them more time. They need to feel at home, place extra perches around for them, thicker ones. This is just suggestions, i hope it has or can help you. Clare x

I was told that ex-bats, having lived in wire cages all their lives and never having had the opportunity to roost, they don't know how. I have three. Ratze, the bully, sleeps alone in her nest box and the other two sleep in a converted hutch, together in the next box. They ignore the perches, but if they are happy that way so be it. I've been assured it does no harm. They do poo in it but since I clean the boxes out every morning, they have clean boxes to lay in, although only the Ratze is laying at the moment. One of my other girls is laying soft shells even though I provide tubs of grit and oyster shell by their boxes and in the corn. hiver
