my good news is I have babies, 8 Call Ducklings that is,they will be a week old tomorrow, so sweet. My bad news is a neighbour's dog worried our poultry it killed 2 Call Ducks and injured a Cuckoo Maran, poor thing has no tail now as it was ripped off by the dog. It was lucky we were in and I heard it barking trying to get into the run with the ducklings. unfortuntely these things happen but it still heartbreaking.

Sorry to hear that news. I lived down in Somerset once and we had a terrible neighbour. Once we left our chickens out to free range and he let his ferret out to kill them on purpose. We had three, it killed two and so only had the one left. So I can sympathise with you on that one. Again sorry to hear of your bad news

Ufortunately the hen died later. The neigbour came with a bunch of flowers for me and some cans of lager for my husband. What hurt the most though she did not ask how the hen was, as when I last spoke to them she was injured but still alive. Also the dog has been castrated since although I doubt if that will stop it getting my birds if it gets out again. Ah the joys of poultry keeping, humph.

Hi Callette
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Like you say the joys of poultry keeping some we win and some are sadly taken away. It is hard enough losing one of age but to lose one because of something that could and should have been prevented is always hard to swallow.
You have our sincere sympathy. Keep a long stick to hand in the garden in case the dog gets off again.
Thanks for letting us know, we do appreciate it, and again sorry for your loss.
Simon
