We've had our lovely girls for three weeks now- they seem very happy running around the garden and have been laying since the day after they came 'home'. I am worried about them being out in the rain though - one of the Blackrocks in particular does'nt seem to bother about being wet. The other two shelter under a big fir tree but she just stays out and gets very bedraggled- its quite a pathetic sight! Will she suffer colds if she is wet and bedraggled at bedtime ? Especially as they are still so young- I worry about them not being strong enough to withstand the cold yet. Should I be giving them supplements ?

If your B'rock is like mine they don't seem to mind the rain and mine have come to no harm, I have one daft one that will even paddle in puddles. She is at least five years old. They are as tough as old boots.

Do not worry Black Rocks are very hardy and don't mind a bit of rain,(if they did they would shelter inside). Just be carfull with breeds like silkies as they can stand the cold but they really do not like the rain.

glad you asked that! I've been wondering if mine were a little odd ;D All six of mine stay out in the rain and look pathetic. They could easily get back into the bottom of the coop or under a tree but choose not too.
