Hello, Hopefully you can help? I have a 4 week old light sussex chick and this morning When I went to check on her I noticed one of her legs has turned out and is swollen on the joint, she's still walking on it and eating and drinking and doesn't seem unhappy but is there any thing I can do to help her? She is the smaller of the chicks and I think they may have been fighting with her or pecking her? is it broken? I seperated her now, Should I take her to the vets? Thanks julusc

Could do, however i would keep and eye on it for a couple of days first - if there is a sore/open cut then keep it clean and put some antibacterial spray on it. They probably have been fighting or she's twisted on it. If its hot and swollen they put her foot in cold water for around 10 minutes to cool it down - then dry her so she doesn't get cold.

Hi thanks for replying, well the legs still twisted and I think its set in that position, but she seams happy and flaps around with the others, she's eating and drinking and getting around ok!! So I think I'll just leave her to it and keep an eye on her.
