hi jodie no she lays in one box then goes to another and stays there, if she is broody how long do you think she will stay that way.

hey Cazza, Does she have any eggs?? If she does remove them ASAP and "shoo" her out the coop. What is her condition like, her appearance, is it her normal healthy one? how do her droppings look? The thing with chickens is they will hide any sign of weakness for as long as possible and then sometimes unfortunately it maybe too late =( Laura.

I also have a speckaldy about 8 months old, who wants to stay in the nesting box all day, she is still laying and eats and drinks, poos ok too, I shoo her out but she waits outside for me to raise the flap this has been going on for over 2 weeks - any ideas as i thought they didnt go broody until at least 24 months old.

Is she being bullied by other hens ? is there a rat about? something could be scaring her but like laura said she could be hiding an illness so give her a good check over and a cuddle i cant think of anything else but one of my father in laws chooks went a bit like that and it gad sour crop i dont want to alarm you but even after treatment she didnt make it .
