Help! The horse trod on the chooks toe, it has swollen up and is bloody and there is a gash over and it is loose. At the moment I have just cleaned it and sprayed with anti bacterial spray. She is proving hard to catch! Will it fall off naturally? Is it vet worthy? Thanks

Hi, i can't offer any help, but was wondering how your girl was doing? If you've still not got any advice yet, personally i'd phone someone, ideally a "hobby" chicken breeder/keeper, as they're more likely to have the same sort of feeling towards their birds as you have! Also, i'd suggest not a farmer, nor a vet, not because i lack respect for either, but because their views could be too extreme. Hope she's ok... Be well, 'Vette

bit the bullet and went to the vet. They were very sympathetic and amputated the toe. So VERY pleased I went. So she is all bandaged up and on some pain killers for a week. She seems very well, just a little confused!
