Help! The horse trod on the chooks toe, it has swollen up and is bloody and there is a gash over and it is loose. At the moment I have just cleaned it and sprayed with anti bacterial spray. She is proving hard to catch! Will it fall off naturally? Is it vet worthy?

Hi, i can't offer any help, but was wondering how your girl was doing? If you've still not got any advice yet, personally i'd phone someone, ideally a "hobby" chicken breeder/keeper, as they're more likely to have the same sort of feeling towards their birds as you have! Also, i'd suggest not a farmer, nor a vet, not because i lack respect for either, but because their views could be too extreme. Hope she's ok... Be well, 'Vette  |

bit the bullet and went to the vet. They were very sympathetic and amputated the toe. So VERY pleased I went. So she is all bandaged up and on some pain killers for a week. She seems very well, just a little confused!
