i hav e 7 ex bat hens, did have 8 but lost one 2 weeks ago she wasnt well. the others seem fine. they free range in day and are in 12 x 8 pen when i am not around, it has galvanised wire all around and over the top, and chicken wire about 2 ft outside arund the pen buried into the ground. i have left the house open once but want to know if it would be safe to do this. does anyone else do this. they always put themselves to bed.
