chickens+duck pond

we're thinking of making a duck pond for our 3 fastly growing ducklings in our chicken enclosure but have read about a lot of horror stories of chickens falling into the ponds and drowning, does anyone have any ideas/solutions for getting around this problem? we're thinking of fencing off an area just for the ducks with a pond and duck house for them in the chicken enlosure....?
