I went around to check for eggs last night, noticed two of the chickens fighting in the corner for "food" they ran off with said "food" when i followed the i saw theyd got half a mouse in their beaks each!!! one of the bolted under the hedge with their half and the other one was stood still, eyes shut making a strange hissing noise, picked her up and noticed she'd got the half stuck in her throat, around her beak and under the back of her tongue, took her in the house and got some scissors, my brother held her still (by this time her eye were still shut, neck all floppy and had stopped the hissing noise....) i had to tho was scared had to cut the mouse in half then pulled it out of her beak and throat, which i nearly spewed! it was huge! the chicken "woke up" flapped her wings and clucked a little thank you! she seemed fine when put her back in the run and is back to normal now! just glad that i was there when it happened.......... the thing im worried about now is do we eat/sell the eggs that they lay today with them eating a mouse? errrrr!
thats it chicken drama story over! has anyone else had this happen? x

Hi my girls attacked a rat once, they all (6) joined in! I watched it from my kitchen window. The rat wasnt bothering the girls at all but never the less the got the rat. We live on a farm so rats are inevitable im afraid. But I dont worry about the girls anymore!
